‘N Sync’s Chris Kirkpatrick says he could not be in the identical room as this Backstreet Boy

“I know I can’t take it anymore / It’s not a lie / I want to see you outside this door,” sang Chris Kirkpatrick as a member of ‘N Sync in 2000 – and he apparently felt just like a certain Backstreet Boy.

Few fans of pop culture can forget the boy band bonanza of the late 90s and early 1980s. With a plethora of groups like ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, O-Town, Boyz II Men, New Kids on the Block, and 98 Degrees, it’s hardly surprising that there would be some rivalry both on and offstage.

In an interview with Variety, Chris shared how his friendships with fellow boy band singers had developed over the years – especially his friendship with AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys.

“There was a time when I couldn’t be in the same room with this guy,” said Chris Variety. “But there has always been mutual respect, and now that we are all parents, we are adults. When you think about things, it’s cool to see what each of the bands did and how it all worked together. It was really this symbiotic relationship with Backstreet, 98 Degrees, us and even O-Town and other bands that came in. “

Fans of both bands will remember Chris and AJ as the notable “old” members of their respective groups. AJ was almost always seen with a goatee and sunglasses and / or a hat, while Chris rocked everything from braids to spiky hair alongside earrings and his own goatee. Maybe this is what prompted your beef?

The world may never know. In any case, their rivalry has now been stopped, and Chris says he now counts AJ among his closest friends. AJ even referred to himself, Chris and 98-degree singer Jeff Timmons as “the three Stooges”.

The trio have all participated in a sideband called ATCK (All the Cool Kids) formed by AJ and Brandon Mashburn (DJ Lux) and which, according to Variety, includes a rotating cast of musicians.

AJ, Chris and Jeff even joked about a concert event that would freak out any J-14 subscriber: a 98 Degrees, Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync World Stadium Tour.

While Jeff’s mention of such a tour was just kidding, we can’t help but add that we think it’s an absolutely brilliant idea. Get to work folks.
